Seems we warned you about that, maybe it was someone else.

At some point they completely redesigned the passenger presence sensor, at some point they changed the connectors. I think it is only the passenger seat

You may even need to have the SDM (the airbag/seatbelt computer) reprogrammed for different part numbers.

Notice that each has a module between the sensor and the SDM connector

Here is the 2009 SS:

Well, it's still not 100% resolved. Airbag light was on after I purchased the vehicle (2008 2lt panel). I swapped out the cloth seats for an 07 leather, and 06 passenger. Airbag light still on. Pulled the 06 passenger and put the cloth back in. Light still on. Reluctantly took it to dealer. Replaced sdm module and passenger seat belt assembly. $1k later...airbag light is off.

Will try 06 leather passenger seat again in spring to see what happens. Unless someone knows different, pretty sure the passenger presence sensor won't be compatible in my 08 because it's a bladder design, but I'm hoping against all odds it will work. If not, I may have to pull the sensor from the 08 cloth and install in the leather. Big pain in the neck. Wish I knew ahead of time that different years were different designs, but I did get the leather seats super cheap.

Don brew, do you have the schematics for 2008? I don't see any bladder on the 06, maybe it will work in the 08.

Maybe I am lucky,

I took the sensor unit out of the 2006 passenger seat bottom. Was able to reach under the installed 2009 passenger seat, unplugged the wire going to it, plugged it into the 2006 unit and VOILA.

When I started the engine, the light came on, but the DIC did not give any message, the airbag light started flashing, maybe 6 times or so, and went off and stayed off. No message on the DIC.

I have not stop & restarted the engine, because I really didn't want to spoil my night

I'll see what happens tomorrow morning...............

There is a bladder in the 2006 everything looks identical between the two under there. When I remove the 2009 sensor unit and mount the 2006, I'll make note / take pictures of the numbers on each for comparison. I did see model number etc on the 2006 unit, so we can compare them.

But as was said, they must be different.

I've had such a headache with these seats and the friggin airbag light. I would love to be able to just plug in the 06 and be done with it. Maybe if you're successful, you can let me know what I'll have to pull out of the 08 seats to get the 06 functional. Thanks.

It should not be a matter of replacing the SDM, just matching the part serial numbers.

One thing is it is illegal to replace a part of the SRS system with a different year/part/number.

I think some 2006 models have bladders

You might check your recall status, there is a recall on some model years for a SRS connector.

That was for the 2009 model year, but the harness could still corrode

trex08, the seatbelt is part of the airbag system. And the connector on the seat side would cause a fault if something is wrong with it. Maybe the switches are wired differently.

the light was on with the original 08 seat in. Now the original seat is bag in, problems fixed, light is off.
Now I want to put the 06 leather seat in. If I do it myself, like I did last time, and it's not compatible, will it throw a code? I'm thinking of just bringing the 06 seat to the dealer so they can look to see if it's compatible or which sensors would need to be swapped out from the 08 cloth seat. Like I said, big PITA.
