I know this is an old thread, but i came across it while doing my throttle body cleaning (for the Sluggish Starting thread). My air box (2009 LS 2.2L) has the two large grommets at the back and the smaller one in front (which I need and why I found this thread). It also has a "bumper" that stays on a stud on the engine about mid center/right of the airbox. Just thought I'd mention it. The front fell apart awhile ago; the two large ones in back have been OK with the white lithium grease.

Not sure what year your HHR is, but I just replaced both of the back insulators on my air box with the part number 19177871 My HHR Panel is 2010.

I have a 2009 HHR LT2 with LE9 2.4L
I am trying to get the CEL to go out on my dash. The DMV says the piece of tape won't cut it.
I read everything I could on this site and also checked other places as well. I ordered the parts , cam position solenoids. Identifying the problem was really easy with your help. I got them from RockAuto, great prices and fast delivery. After that it only took me about 8 weeks to put them in.
In the discussions it became very clear that the AC grommets could be a problem. I started by trying to remove the air cleaner by pulling up on the front left side but it was rock solid. You could lift the car up with that grommet and stud connection. It was old and hard and I knew that it would be destroyed if I could get it a part by pulling.
So I sprayed a little silicone on it and then unscrewed, torx T-30, the stud. It came out without hurting the grommet at all. It stayed in the grommet so I left it there. Wasn't too hard to get to. It did show signs of age with some cracking and had I pulled it apart it would be a problem.
Following the excellent directions, I got the air box off without and trouble. Remember old guy with arthritis. My large grommets in the back were in great shape. After all of the stories about the difficulty in finding new ones, I thought I would take a look. After all, how hard could it be????
Well I didn't know what I was getting in to.
Here is what my findings and thoughts are.
After thousands of hours looking at the info at hand and the Generals drawing, I am pretty sure that the drawing is only for the 2006-early 07 L61 2.2L without VVT. Take a look at the drawing. The valve cover is not for individual coils and the head has no cam solenoids. Almost all of us have VVT engines. They are the LE5, LE8, LE9. I searched every where for a drawing of the later HHR engines. Nothing!!!
So we have the wrong drawing and the parts don't seem to match up either. Nowhere could I find the correct parts or numbers. The front grommet, small one on pass. side is 12563914. You guys have beat that one to death. I still don't know what the large grommet number is but it is not on any General drawing that I could find. However Callahan may have it right, 19177871. Someone with a good parts connection could possible order a couple and check them out.

I think you're onto something, Dave. When I look closer at the data, 12563914 shows as fits only 2006-2008, which are the years for non-VVT 2.2s. When filtering for 2009, 10, or 11, the #5 part is on the diagram, but is not in the list. Filtering 2006, 07, 08, #5 is listed as 12563914.
So it appears that the L61 is the only engine to use 12563914 for the rear insulators. But the OP had a 2008 2.2, which would be an L61. They should have been 12563914, but he said they were not, nor were they 19177871, which Callahan said worked on his 2010 with unknown engine.

Good news, I'm not crazy!
I looked at post #10 Steddy Teddy and my grommets are the same as his. The large one measures approximately 1.5 inches and I tried to get some info from the number, 2309539100, but no luck. the NBR means [Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR)] or just nitrile. Dead end. I included a list of all the insulator or grommet part numbers I ran across in my research. Maybe some one could get a picture or other info on each one. GM only shows stick drawings for them. If anyone knows an understanding parts guy maybe they could order a bunch of them and "take pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back" explaining the size and shape. Maybe one of them is the one we all, VVT owners, need. It's got to be out there. GM made it and used it once upon a time in a land far away.
RJ_RS_SS_350, FYI , A long time ago I dated a girl who had a 1968 Camaro 396 RS. But someone had changed the engine to a 250CI 6 cyl.
I couldn't find any air cleaner assy. drawings specifically for 2.2L or 2.4L VVT motors.And by using a non VVT motor in their drawing they got everything screwed up. Anyway when I get this finished I'm going to take on the "dreaded clunk" in the front end and upgrade the front brakes with the SS brackets.

Hey donbrew, I guess I need to get out more. Haven't been to the mall lately.
I see you posted some pictures of grommet/insulator #25346092. Did you happen to measure the outside diameter of these?
Like Silverfox said I would like to have a set on hand. My HHR is a 2009 with almost 100K on the clock. I just replaced the cam solenoids and the two large ones are OK for now but sooner or later something else will require attention. Just changing the air filter requires disconnecting the stud/insulator connection. I can't believe GM never addressed this part number issue. I guess it wouldn't be the first time. I think I'll order a couple just to get some dimensions.
