Alarm not working after body shop disconnected battery

Hello everybody,
I am so glad I found this forum. It is a great resource for my 2007 HHR.
My question is my car was involved in a fender bender a few weeks ago. When I picked up my car I noticed the alarm would not respond to the fob. I'm sure that when they started the bodywork on the drivers side fender and light assembly that they disconnected the battery. Now alarm is off. I know it is not fob since it worked before accident and when you use key to gain entry the alarm does not sound.
Does it have to be reset. How would I go about doing this.
Thanks for the info
Stew

Welcome to the site. :thumb:

Take it back to the repair shop. No sense in us trying to figure out what they may have done to it.

Now. If they won't help you get it right, feel free to come back here and we'll see if we can help.

FWIW. Disconnecting the battery should have no effect on the alarm system. When you unhook the battery it just reboots the cars computer.

Welcome to the site

Isn't the horn behind the drivers fender? Maybe it never got pluged back in.

Good point Lucky.
If the OP's horn doesn't honk when locking the car, the alarm could still be armed. The little red light on the instrument panel should still blink if it's armed.

Here's a link to an Owners Manual, the alarm is explained in it.
