Auto-Dimming Mirror

Have any of you ever noticed if your mirror dims properly? Is there a way to test it with a flashlite in the dark? I have never seen mine actually dim like other cars do. (and yes, I do have the optional dimming mirror and it is turned on) :)

Mine dims.
It's not very noticeable in all situations, I really miss the dimming side view mirror in my '03 Tahoe.........

I never will understand why all side mirrors don't dim... manually or automatically.

You're not supposed to look at the side mirrors after dark.

Never heard that one before.
Even without "looking" you still get the headlights in the mirror, "I miss my dimming sideview mirror on my '03 Tahoe". It was great, never had to hold my hand up to obscure that Ford pickup's headlights behind me. Ever noticed how even the Ranger headlights are aimed at a seemingly higher level than normal?
