Bcm

Guys,

I had the thermostat replaced and was good for a couple of days but the gauges started acting up again. Took it back to the dealer and they said the codes they got were indicating the BCM was going bad. The mechanic said it might be around 6-800 bucks installed......now that my bumper-to-bumper is up I'm trying to figure out what the best route for this fix is. Other than my gauges not working once and a while, which affects the AC, the only other issue I'm having is my remote start not working once and a while.

Thanks,
Colin

PS---I can get a used BCM for $40 with a 30 day return at the local
pull-n-pay.....

You'll probably need the stealership to flash it for you once it's installed. It's not entirely clear to the "hacker community" what all is stored in the BCM, but there is definitely a relationship to the ECM that needs to be maintained.

Chad,
The only thing I know about the BCM is where it is, the pics I've seen here and the remains of the 5 HHR's here in Milford at the salvage yard. I bet you and I could get it done! I'll send you a message.

XXL, The way the "stealership" was talking about the "talking" back and forth between systems I can understand you mentioning a reflash....never thought about that. I'll call them and see what they can do. Thanks for the idea!

Any other comments from anyone would be helpful!!

It will have to be reflashed and you have to make sure it has the same part number and broadcast codes posting on the label as what you have. Used BCMs are not always reliable, but if you get a warranty it's worth a try.

XXL on your stealership quip.

Since when did profit become a dirty word. The sidebar rests, now back to the topic.

Paying $70-$100 for the programming set up is chump change compared to the new installed price.

The dirty word isn't "profit." It's "gouge." A reasonable profit is just fine.

Thanks for the info! Sure beats buying a new one. I just wish I still had some bumper2bumper left.
