2010 LS Remote Start?
Hello,
I am a newb here and really don't know much cars in general and even less about my 2010 HHR. I have owned it for five years assuming it does not have remote start. I have the the three button FOB. I am pretty sure my car was a rental in a prior life and has only the most basic options. I wanted to get my wife a remote start for Christmas but when I went looking they seem to be unavailable for a 2010 HHR. A little further investigation and I might be misunderstanding but am i correct that all HHRs have remote start available? They just may need to be activated and purchase the right FOB? I need new ones any way as neither of my FOBs work anymore even when the battery was replaced. dealer said I need new ones. So if i need new ones anyway and can have the option of remote start then thats what I want.
Help.

Welcome to the site.
Some former rental cars did not have the remote start. Look at your RPO option list placard in the glovebox. AP3 is the one for remote start.
There were some differences between the years on the programming and ways to bypass not having the AP3 option. Some years you could, some not.
Get back with us about if your's has that RPO code or not. We can proceed from there.
( A fwiw: There are many older posts regarding this. If you have the time you could use our Search function. Just be sure to set the Search window choice to Google from the 3 choices. If you don't have the time, just come back to this thread about the RPO code.)

Start by looking at the label on the glove box door, if you se "AP3" it does have Remote Start. Not all 2010 HHRs came with, especially fleet cars.
Usually the problem with remotes is easily repairable. Either the battery cage has broken it's solder connections to the circuit board or the key pad needs replacing. New key pads are about $5 on eBay.
If you do have AP3 on the glove box door; and have Remote Start enabled in the Driver Information Center pushing Panic+Lock is the same as Remote Start.
If not you are stuck going to an after market place that can install a combination door lock remote start alarm system.
If you just want or really need new fobs you can get them with a programming module on eBay etc or your local auto parts store. Any new fob must be programmed with a computer tool.
If you need an Owner Manual therre is a link in my sig for a free digital one.

No, without the AP3 code means it didn’t have remote start , most likely because it was ordered as a low cost lot inventory or ordered for rental fleet.
Plus manual transmission vehicles don’t have remote start.
