I have speed data just not rpm. Was wanting to verify what wires were what and what connector they go in to. The ckp is my first order of business.

The description of tach is the same as odo/speedo. I'm not sure which sensors are used.

I would assume that it would come from the ckp honestly, since it's what would be going around with each cycle of the entire engine.

I was able to identify that connection, they spliced in the correct connector for the throttle body they have on it.

Found a few crappy wires and will be repairing those in the next few days. Found one of the starter wires was loose and corroded and fixed that. Starts a whole lot better now, who would have thought. LoL. Just keeping the thread updated.

P.S.
Anyone know where I can find the engine Vin number? I am wanting to verify all the info I have for it.

Finale

Ok, so as an end to this posting, had the ECM and the TCM flashed by a smaller company in Indiana called Sinister Performance and they did an excellent job with it, put the right engine software in and even caught a small difference in the transmission unit to make sure it was behaving correctly. I really suggest using them if you end up like me. Reasonable price too. Also found a broken wire on a fuel injector. Now my baby floats along like a bat out of hell and I love it!

There are folks on ebay that sell used ECMs programmed to VIN; maybe you could contact one and see if they know how.

I don't know if getting a used one from a junked 2.4L HHR would work. It would have the wrong VIN which would make a touch illegal.
Can get a junked ECM and have the dealer flash it....

However, the problem is the car VIN is a 2.2L and the engine is a 2.4L engine. A dealer will only program to the VIN and won't do it out of the car that I've ever heard.

We have discussed in other threads, how the 2.2 got a different intake camshaft, from the 2.4. The timing is different, which would explain why it's running so poorly.

I wonder if one could just put a intake camshaft from a 2.2 in it and it would run good?
