Cancel Interior Lighting?

This is most likely a dumb question, but I've looked throught he owner's manual, and can not find an answer. Is it possible to switch interior lights off for such things as vacuuming/cleaning, etc.? Or, do the lights go off after a certain amount of time on their own, even with all the doors and hatch open? Thanks for your response(s)!

No you cant override the lights which sucks, and yes they automatically go off after about 15 or 20 min.

Thanks for the quick reply, wonder why they wouldn't have made that a standard feature on the car.

Darn, tailgate did not close all the way and my mirror light stayed on for a long time, had dome light switch off while working, been think'n of extending the 10 amp interior light fuse number 27 in the center console with a fuse extension and an inline switch, with easy access to the switch. Primary use when I am working on the vehicle, doors open or tailgate open. Any suggestions beyond pulling the fuse ?

AFAIK, our vehicles have a 20 minute safety on them.. To shut off any power drains, & prevent dead batteries. As chadpuska previously mentioned.

I think yours should have shut off in 20 minutes..

Just checked, you are correct, must have opened another door prior to realizing the tailgate was ajar.
Thanks.

I think that's way too long for the battery rundown protection. My Lumina stays lit for 5 minutes, and that's plenty. Any more is just draining the battery.

Maybe the fuse mod is a worth while effort for cleaning or working on the vehicle ?

Could not find any options in the DIC for altering the interior lighting time duration.
