Car stalled at the start ...
the car stalled at the start ...
Here is what happened: The car was 2 days without work. On the third day I started it. Engine started, but stalled after 1 - 2 seconds. A new attempt to start the engine lasted about 5 seconds. After that, the engine started reluctantly. but then woke up and cheerfully worked the entire trip. The next morning, the engine started normally. And this morning too. But since I'm already scared, I begin to listen carefully to the sounds in the process of starting. Perhaps I hear something that is not in reality, but some hints of a strike are present. No light errors on the panel. This spring, I replaced the fuel injectors, coils and spark plugs after my engine suddenly started shaking right on the road. Air filter replaced a week ago. Your thoughts, guys ... Where to wait for trouble? |
Fuel pump; slowly leaking check valve.

Thanks for the answer.
I also think on the pump ... But what is a check valve? Is it inside the pump? Or is it somewhere else? If it's not difficult for you - please take a picture. P.S. Near the gas tank hangs some sort of unit. I understand that this is one of those gizmos that we call "Absorber" in Russia. This also contains some kind of valves. |
Check valve is in the fuel pump assembly.
the “absorber” is the EVAP box. |
Check valve is a flap on the out side of a pump; when the pump turns off it prevent the liquid from returning to the tank keeping the system primed.
The black box is the EVAP charcoal box. It filters gas fumes from the gas tank so it doesn't get into the atmosphere. |
Oh! I understood.
Probably keeps the operating pressure in the system too. I heard the fuel rail is always under pressure even if the engine is off. By the way, where can you find the value of the standard pressure in the fuel rail? I want to try to replace this check valve. |
|
The pressure in the rail drops in about 15 minutes, but fuel should stay ready.

Thanks guys
I appreciate your help. I already purchased a new pump assembly. I will not throw out the old pump. I will restore it: I will replace the motor itself, the filter, the tubes and the check valve (if I can find it). |
It’s less expensive to just order a new pump , when you need one.
