Car surging after replacement of Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoids

Hi everyone,

I replaced Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoids yesterday, and the car is surging sometimes after I start driving it. After driving it for a while longer, the surge disappears and it runs fine. I did now have that problem before when I replace Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoids two years ago. Is there a break in period for these?

Thanks.

No break in period, check for codes. Make sure you reconnected the MAF sensor.

I replaced my intake and exhaust solenoids late winter and experienced a similar same result. My CEL codes stayed on and still indicated the same intake issue. I replaced the cheap Chinese intake solenoid I had installed with an AC Delco and the CEL went away and the problem went away. Runs perfect now.

Thanks for clarifying and confirming you get what you pay for.
Now don’t start , I know everything these days are from China , but I would hope to set specifications.

You're right. I should have just said they were "off brand" parts I found on Amazon. Had great reviews too. They probably just have a slightly higher failure rate than a brand name or OEM part. It was actually my mechanic who suggested I get the genuine part or at least a reliable brand like Borg Warner or AC Delco. He said he'd do it for me, but since I had done the labor once already I should probably try just replacing the intake since the cheap exhaust one appeared to be working.
