Changed camshaft sensors, now flashing CEL

Hi,

I changed my position sensors yesterday and My solenoids this morning. Now actually getting a flashing engine light and TC came on and it is running even rougher. Any ideas what I may have done wrong? I put the intake solenoid in the intake and exhaust in the exhaust..did them one at a time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there tsanzari - Welcome welcome!!!

Any suggestion would just be a total guess, without the code from the flashing CEL being downloaded and posted here. Can you get the codes downloaded at home or via most auto parts stores (they should do it for free)?

About the only suggestion once you download the error codes, is to disconnect the battery (Neg post only for safety reasons) for a minute or two - that will clear the code at least temporarily.

A couple more questions for you:

What were the initial codes you got that prompted replacing the sensors and solenoids?

The parts you have replaced so far: were they genuine GM or aftermarket ones?

A flashing check engine light is an indicator for a severe engine misfire. Did you unplug one of the coils?

Because of needing more info from the OP, and the nature of "tack ons" to old threads getting lost in the shuffle, I split this off into its own thread.

Thank you for the welcomes!!

I will have to get the codes pulled. Before hand it was the p0010, 11, 13 & 14.

And Thank you about the coil pack...I went back and checked that and no..they are tight. Also I put the old Solenoids in and it is back to just running rough...but no flashing or critical fail engine light and the TC light went off. So I am wondering if I just happened to get bad parts. I got them at Napa.

One step I forgot/skipped is disconnecting the battery during the operation. I realized this after I started the car up with the new ones in. So I turned it off and disconnected the negative cable for about 5 minutes then put back on. It only took moments for the TC light to come one and in a minute or less the engine light came on flashing so I powered it off.

I have tried it with the Old Intake one in and a New Exhaust one in and same results. Then tried it with a New Intake and Old Exhaust and The TC light came on, however the engine light just stayed solid. Upon putting both old solenoids back in...the car runs rough...shifts hard...but the TC light stays off and the engine light stays solid.

I thought I may do the whole process over again...but disconnect the battery this time....see if that was my hick up.
