Question Code Scanner Recommendation

Just changed my my front wheel bearings on my 2010 (43K miles). Easy job after reading the forum! Have ABS and Traction warning lights on now. Plugged in my Actron CP9175 OBDII Scanner and get no communication with the car. Can anybody recommend a good scanner for a mid skilled DIY'er?

No communication - did it used to work? If so, check the fuse for the cigarette lighter in the dash - it also works for the OBD system.

AFAIK, ABS and TCS warning lights can't be addressed by an OBDII scanner. If you truly are getting no communication as opposed to not being able to access warning lights you mention. you may have the problem mentioned by whopper in the previous post.

If your scanner is CAN capable, it's your cigar lighter fuse. But it will be of no use for reading ABS codes.

You guys are first class! It is a blown fuse. I will go to the parts store, grab one and press on. Thanks all!

db/sb,
Got the OBDII running by replacing the blown fuse. You were correct it does not read the ABS or TCS codes. Point me in the right direction please. I don't think there is an issue. I just want to reset the lights. They came on when I unplugged the 1st hub ABS wire. Thanks!

One of members here recently said that you can reset the ECU by pulling fuses number 41 and 42. Never tried it myself but member Lee3333 says it works. Otherwise it might require a trip to a dealership or someone who had a Tech II scanner.

Unless there is a active fault the abs light should go out on the next key cycle of when the wheels turn going down the street.

If your light is on I think you may have an active code. Are you sure the wheel speed sensor connector is plugged in correctly. No pins got push out or wires was damaged?

The fuses for the anti lock brakes are 44 and 57.

Right on Lucky. A quick check found the drivers side plug had backed out. Cleaned and reseated the plug. Traction light went right out. Trip around the block extinguished the ABS light. All is well in Baltimore! Thanks again!!
