coolant recovery tank leaks

I have a 2007 LS model HHR with the 2.2 powerplant. My coolant recovery tank has a constant drip drip drip going on. Has anybody had to replace one. It looks simple, question is, is it simple? I ordered a new one from gm parts direct for $52.95. Any advice would be appreciated.

Super simple, remove one bolt, then slide the old tank out of its bracket. Transfer the hose to the new tank, slide it home and tighten the bolt.

Don't forget to capture the coolant, you can just add it back to the new coolant reservoir.

One important note...do this when the engine is cold. I know it's a common sense thing, but people sometimes get complacent and try to work on hot cooling systems, with predictable results.

P.S. :welcome8: to the forum!

Curious...

It is very hard to imagine the body of the coolant recovery tank developing any kind of defect that would cause a slow leak. The most likely spot for coolant leakage would be the interface between the tank and the hose.
bt0210- when you replace the tank, could you post a follow-up on what was wrong with your original tank?

Welcome to the site! Order up a new tank, there is really no way to repair the old split tank.
