Cooling Fan Not Working and Blown Fuse
Cooling Fan Not Working and Blown Fuse
Hello All......I have a 06 HHR LT 2.2ltr.....That the Cooling fan keeps blowing fuses....have disconnected the fan wiring @ fan and the other wiring harness to the fan....still blows fuse.
I know there is a possible short some where but do not know how fan is controlled.
Has anyone come across this problem and solved it
Thx

Year and model?
Depending on the exact production date there may be a diode on the fan wiring.
There may also be a relay in position #50 in the underhood fuse box.
The diode would be my first guess, if you have one.

The diode is spliced into both wires at #2 & #4, probably wrapped up in tape.

Thank you and I will.
Update....as donbrew suspected it was the diode....I did disconnect it but I did not reset the check engine light as I did when I did the fan itself...my bad....assumed the fuse blew again because light Was still on.....lesson learned.....Thx again donbrew
