Could this cause ?

My son was having issue with stalling, Sputtering,n power
He found the air intake hose after the MAF was off between the MAF and AF box !! Would or could that cause those issue's with the mixture ?
I am 1 hr away so my info is from a phone chat with him

Thanks for the reply Don. I thought so but my auto mechanic skills are fair at best lol I was guessing that sucking air in after the MAF would mess it up , Good to have it confirmed

The clamp is there, just tucked up under the airbox a bit, you can see it.... you circled the rib just bellow it

A cracked AF box neck would allow more unfiltered air in.

Here’s a shot of the MAF location, just the other side of the elbow and that clamp

Here you can see the neck , now if it’s cracked before the MAF , it’s going to allow that unfiltered air in but before the MAF , can cause the MAF to read incorrectly.

As far as I know he did !
He said he tightened it when put back together ! But a great question, And I will double check with him that he did put the clamp back to be sure !

A leak BEFORE the MAF will only admit unfiltered air. A leak AFTER the MAF will cause unmetered air, causing a lean A/F.
As these cars age the rubber tends to crack where the breather enters the EL.
