Cruise Control Will NOT Engage
Okay, I know this Is a common problem and I have read every forum there is about this issue.
I have a 2006 HHR and the cruise control will not engage; The indicator light on the steering wheel does illuminate. The third brake light does have brand new NON LED bulb and all do illuminate. I have replaced the brake switch on the brake petal and tested the other switch next to it. The car is a five speed so I have also verified that the clutch switch does work (otherwise the car wouldn't start) I feel like this problem has been covered at least a hundred times but I have different symptoms it seems. ALSO, my car will not accept any new key fobs. I am friends with a very reputable locksmith (15 years experience) and he has used 4 different programmers to pair a fob...nothing will work. Even tried different fobs. The car does beep twice to ensure that the pairing mode has been initiated on the car and is ready for pairing...but no remote will pair. I have done everyting besides spend the $30 from Chevrolet on a remote and let them bend me over on the install price. PLEASE tell me someone has had either of these problems and found a working solution that wont require me to pole dance to pay for. All help is appreciated that leads to a solution to my vehicles issue. |
Have you checked to see if any OBD error codes are downloadable?

There might be 2 switches on the clutch

Key fobs, Tech2. I just deleted all and programmed 3 for one of my HHR's. Others have had different results but most have had to do it with a Tech2.

Have you tried a battery lobotomy to reset the computers?

I believe you are correct, there are 2 switches on the clutch. One is for the starter circuit and the other for everything else.
