CV boots
First post, I have a 2008 HHR LT. Bought it 11/2014 and had a 60k service and go through this past week at a Chevy dealer. They said that all was good except the CV joint axle was shooting grease out during sharp turns. Their suggestion was to replace the whole thing $750, which I declined because I had heard on this site that there might be a problem with certain kinds of bushings.
Can you help me |
CV joint boot on the drive axle can split and spout grease out as the axle spins, but this would have nothing to do with bumps and clunks, the 5 year power train warranty would be over back in 2013.
these axles are available rebuilt and are not the complicated to replace. do you have a mechanic you have had work on your car and you trust? |
Rebuilt axles go for less than $90 Each. Labor probably 1hour.
No idea what bushing you might have heard about. None involved with the axle. |
