I need to replace the main dash vent, all the way to the right on the passenger side. What is the minimal amount of dash I need to remove to replace this? Thank you.

 

Will they just pull out?

If not maybe you can get to it from the glove box?

 

Service manual says pull the entire dash pad off. Have you looked through the access opening at the end of the dash to see if you can get to the retainers?

Remove entire dash pad if you break a piece off the air louvers!

Why do you need to remove the whole vent assembly?

If you have just a broken louver blade pin you can get it out without removing the dash and see my recent post on that.

 

You can also try this if the vanes are what the problem is.

So, you can replace just the broken vanes. That's a relief! Now, when will Chevy, er Chevrolet come up with something like that for the inside door handle problem (which mercifully I have not experienced first-hand)? I dare them!

 

My experience is that you can repair the vanes. Local GM parts dept. advised that the vanes cannot be puchased separate from the outlet assembly.
