Daytona Beach, FL

Hey folks, I’m a new 2006 HHR owner. I live in a Daytona Beach marina on my sailboat. I’ve only put a little over 300 miles on this 125k driver and am getting transmission error codes P0751 which said “solenoid A performance / stuck off. I reset and it seemed fine. Then it sent a new light on with ETS traction off. This went away on a restart but I now have yet another “check engine light.”
I’m looking for some simple direction with hope of finding someone local to do service on this transmission. Thanks for any ideas local to Daytona.
For what it’s worth this is a one owner vehicle that was according to the CarFax serviced like clockwork by just 2 dealerships to date.

Cheers,
Glen

Welcome to the site, how old is the car battery, the HHR is not happy with anything under 12.4 volts.

Thanks Ohio, the boat’s a different animal for certain as she’s a 1981 Irwin 46 ketch rig.

Oldblue, I’ll check the battery but think with the way she starts and her service record this might be a long shot.

There has to be 50 transmission shops within 20 miles.

You didn't notice 1st and 4th gear were missing?

You need to pull the codes again and see if it's the same code or a new one. It's most likely the cause of the ETS light being on.
Do you have an Owners Manual ? If not, Donbrew has a link (in his signature) to download a copy.

Fwiw. Pulled this from the 2006 Owners Manual-----

Thanks so much for the caustic reply. Perhaps you missed that I do have an OBDII reader.... The 1st & 4th aren’t missing though shifting is erratic now on this reset. My question was for those in the group about a local shop.... “I’m looking for some simple direction with hope of finding someone local to do service on this transmission. Transmisson shops are a dime a dozen, as are quick replies were the replyer seems to have missed the point of the post.

This isn’t what I’m looking for from a Support Forum. FYI I have done my share years back on the Allante Club of America forum as well as now being an Administrator of a 1250 Member Sailboat Facebook group.

Hard from any distance to choose a shop transmission, brakes or otherwise.
its up to you to trust a shop and staff. I believe that the knowledge on this site is very good, we do try to help with what information we have.
I hope other members from the area can advise you, from experience.
Changing the transmission solenoids isn’t an impossible job, but it might not be required.
I know from experience the battery condition can effect the computers.
after s 1250 mile drive from up here to St Pete’s Beach , the next day I was calling AAA , a dead cell , but the battery showed 12.3 volts.
Its common here that many don’t get that but the voltage does matter.

Suggest going to local Auto Parts Store & have them "load test" your battery, it is a FREE service.

Then you know where ya stand.
