Door locks

Hi,I'm experiencing the following problem and hope you guys might help. This morning I tried to unlock the car(HHR LT2) with my remote-the car has been parked for over a month-and nothing happened so I thought the battery was dead and I tried to open the door manually with the key,but the door doesn't open and the lock button hardly moves.Any ideas? Thanks

If you push the unlock button twice do any of the doors unlock? (I doubt they will because I'm with you thinking it's a dead battery) When, if ever, was the last time you unlocked with the key? Maybe some lube in the key tumbler would help.

Dead battery and unlockable door

The last time I unlocked with key was about 2 mos ago, what type of lubricant should I use in the lock?Is there a way to unlock the hood or the rear hatch manually from outside in order to recharge the battery without having to break the window glass?

Over here they sell lock cylinder lube, but WD-40 works as well or better. Not sure what you have available but any light oil will work. It will need to have a fine nozzle so you can get it in the key slot and not all over the door. (although most won't hurt the paint, you don't want to risk it)

use a long screw driver or a hook tool, you can see and release the hood through the top space of the grill slide the part that the release cable is conected to towards the driver side of the car and the hood will unlatch.:twothumbs:
