Drivers wiper arm rubs on hood when arm is lifted?

I noticed this on quite a few HHR's before I bought so it is not something of a surprise. If you lift the arm like you would to wipe windows, clear snow etc, it rests on the edge of the hood. While that is fine, the motion of lifting it into place rubs the arm across the edge of the hood a bit. I can definitely see a black mark on the edge of the hood and it feels a bit rough so something is going on there. (Wearing paint down)

Is the arm adjustable so it doesn't do this? I saw that some HHR arms do not do this while I was looking but the majority of them do

I noticed that when I was waxing mine last weekend. It only took me 7 months to discover that

I don't think it can be adjusted.

I noticed it too. I thought it was just poor design. I don't think there is any way to fix it though other than just be careful when you lift it. The other thing I noticed is the driver's wiper also contacts the passenger side wiper if you have them both up and try to drop it down first.

While my hood does look like something is rubbing the paint, it is not the wiper arm(s). Yes, I have two marks, each one is right in front of the wiper arms. However, it is not the wipers doing it (still don't know what is), and unless I am pulling the driver's side out to it's max, it does not touch the hood.

BTW.....My hood was replaced 5 months ago, so even if it were to be the wiper arm(s), it would not have worn through so quickly.

Mine comes close, but does not hit the hood. The wipers will bump each other if one is raised before the other (can't remember which should go up first at the moment though).

Maybe it's a Daytona thing....

I wonder if these marks are from final assembly or perhaps after they come out of "paint".

Perhaps the hoods are hung either after painting or on the assembly line before being lowered into position for final assembly. I wonder if there are similar marks on the front of the hood that are hidden by the grille.

Explain me? I can't even do that and we expect others too?

I know that one, I used to keep the wipers up until I was done washing, not with the HHR. I also hit the top part of the fenders under the hood each time. SO I have to remember to put the wipers down before I open the hood.

If your wipers are adjusted for the correct sweep......

When turned off they should stop with the top of the blade on the "spot" indicators located on the OEM windshields....one on the lower passenger side, for the passenger wiper....one just off low center for the drivers side.

My wipers do not touch any part of the hood.
