Something has shorted out! Keep looking, the fuse for the ECM blown will cause a no start
|
It might be worthwhile to take a step back and ask: what prompted you to take things apart for a cleaning in the first place? Was there a problem previously that you were troubleshooting?
|
Diagnostics 101: what causes a fuse to blow?
Pretty obvious 2 wires are making contact that should not be. AssUmeing that is really all you did. Are you saying the fan comes on when you turn the key with the A/C off? It should not; in fact, I don't think it should ever come on if the engine is not running. |
My intention was to take out the ECM and inspect the connections. Like a few thousand of the other posts I've read, people experience crazy signals on the dash.
Also, I had a burnt out tail light. I replaced both tail lights. I thought that if the connections, fuses & relays looked good, I would then attempt to reflash the ECM. I know that I need to replace a pair of tire sensors, but I would not expect all of the other signals on the dash. Thanks everybody for all the advice - I have pulled the ECM again. re-checked the pins (all good) and also I have take a heavy sewing needle and lanced each of the connector pin holes. Everything appears to be clean and correct. Just in case, I will make sure that the A/C is off. I will now attempt to restart. |
2 of the more common causes of what I think you are describing,
1). Weak battery 2). Loose underhood fuseblock halves |
As I mentioned in post #6?
|
Yes, but this is in response to the original reason for his investigation. (post #14, crazy signals on the dash) :twothumbs:
|
So, you have access to a Tech2 scanner and Tis2Web?
BTW; the crazy dash more likely bad connections inside the fuse box. |
Ok, I'm out! Let me know what y'all come up with.
