That's no fun especially with the holidays here.

Yours is a 2007 - without knowing what the On Board error code is, about all one can do is make a guess. The error code is downloaded with an OBDII Code Reader - pretty much any autoparts store/garage can download the code for you. If you know someone with one of the code readers see if you can borrow it (they are a snap to use).

My wild guess, due to the age of the vehicle, points towards the battery being old and needing replacing. But that is just a wild guess!!! Have you noticed the car being slow to start lately, or the starter sounding like it isn't spinning as fast as usual?

Nope! everything was running fine and even now it starts just fine however the engine did start to do this thing where it would rev when I was driving or if I am sitting at a light or something

This happened to me several times, randomly / intermittently.
Both times cleaned throttle body (butterfly) on the car; no problem again.
About every 50,000 miles acted up.

And if it did, have you taken to your local auto parts store to have them "Pull the Codes"?

Actually, you might just want to do that anyway, there might be stored codes which could shed some light on your issues.
