Engine stutter

Ok so I have an 06 with a 2.2. On occasion while idling it will drop from 1000 rpms to 800 rpms for a split second. Is this normal? Happens about twice a week. Should I be worried? If so has anybody else experienced this issue? What could cause it? Oh it has 83000 miles if that makes a difference

Thanks guys and girls

I've got a 2.4 and noticed the same. Don't know when it started, may have been there from day 1. Now I don't really pay attention to it anymore. It may be the AC affecting it, I haven't gone many days w/o running the AC.

Don't really think it's anything to worry about.

I agree that it's probably nothing to worry about..... I've seen (felt) this or something similar on occasion seems very rare and random to me but I don't run the air much and it may be AC related. The last time I noticed it I was stopping for a light and had just shut the AC off and the engine kind of lopped like it had a "big cam" for a little bit (I wish for the big cam ;) ) I figured it was trying to figure out what was going on as I had just done all this, AC off, slowing and then stop at idle, all at the same time...... figured the engine was going :wtf:

Is this the "engine surge" that folks feel at idle with their foot on the brake? I'd assume this only happens on automatics?

I believe that's what the OP is referring to......

Sounds lke the controls got slightly confused on inputs as you had just shut off the Ac so the idle was compesated for the no load condition BUT, it dropped too low so it tried to compensate again....sometimes this can repeat untill it gets its signals straightened out. Not so good gas may also cause this.....Ive had other vehicles do this including the race car...all depends how the moons align on the type gas being used and temps and hether or not your socks are on the right foot..........
Should it do it..not really,,,,but then the blue screen of death wasn't supposed to happen either
