Engine won't shut off after ignition turned off
Hello: I am new here and I hope I am posting in the right place. Has anyone had this problem. I turn off my ignition but the motor is still running. It is a 2008 HHR and I had the ignition switch replaced due to the recall. I believe this occurrence started after I had it replaced? Do you see any connection there? Thanks.

Welcome to the site
I assume that the key is turning all the way off where you could remove the key but the engine remains running?
If the key will not turn back to the off position then there are a few things that can cause that.
A little more info of your problem please.

Yes. The key turns all the way off and the key can be removed. That is it in a nutshell. I haven't stayed with it long enough to see how long but it doesn't seem to be more than a few minutes I think. I am taking it in tomorrow to the Chevy dealer to have them look at it. I just hope they are honest and don't make something up that will cost me a lot of money. Thanks for replying.
Very confusing posts. Not really sure what the details are. Maybe you should try to explain your problem a little clearer.

I'm going to guess maybe a relay hanging up. Let us know how you make out at the dealer.
I worked on an a 84 Pontiac that you could not shut the engine off. It turned out to have a shorted voltage regulator in the alternator.
It would back feed battery voltage through the alternator and power up the ign circuit.
