exhaust components are not under the powertrain warranty. if your nice to the dealer it could be part of the "emmisions" warranty. the catalytic converter is the only exhaust component really covered for that(80k i think) anyhow here is a how to i made a while back if you can weld or know a welder

Because the flex pipe and the cat are all one piece, it should be covered under emissions... Could depend on your dealer though, if they want to do the work.

The key is your mileage on the vehicle, the Federal Emissions warranty is what they call an 8/80. Eight years on covered components, or 80,000 miles whichever comes first. So if you have 100,000 miles on your HHR, you're on the hook for the bill, if you've got 30,000 miles it should be covered under the 8/80 Emissions Warranty.

The good news is that the part is now cheaper than when I needed it, around $200 for "legal in California" from RockAuto.com. And only 5 bolts, 2 o2 sensors (2007 may only have 1), took me less than an hour in my garage, with jack stands. back then GM was getting around $700 and not available elsewhere.
