Fog light wiring using passenger side empty slot
Hello All,
Previous owner had installed aftermarket fog lights but had positive wire tied on the low beam fuse which I removed. I want to make it a more proper install but I wanted to know if I added a relay to the wiring, do I need to connect directly to the battery or can I get a 12v source from the empty slot on the passenger side fuse box. I wanted to also use a fuse tap to do a cleaner install. I am trying to avoid high voltage running to the on/off switch installed in the cabin. |

OldBlue, yes, I have it all set up but wanted to know if the 12v source can be the empty fuse slot on the passenger side or do I need to hook it up directly to battery.
I have read posts where it was just hooked up the empty slot but think that would invite to a whole mess if the high amps heat up the wires inside the cabin hence why I want a relay. |
Why not use the fog light fuse and relay that are probably installed but not used? The slots are there for sure.
You definitely need a relay. There is at least 1 how-to in the how to library. |

I'm not sure if that link covers wiring without using the BCM, but it does not take a genius how to use the low beam to switch the power to the fogs so that the fogs don't work with high beams. Might need 2 relays. fogs + high beam = illegal

Thank you. I would like to avoid using the fuse box (factory) method and wanted to know if I can tap into the low beam wire or can I hook up the positive wire from relay already installed by me directly to the post (jumpstart post) next to the fuse box with a fused wire. I already have it wired with a relay just need to know where to hook up to get 12v. I have never done wiring on a car with a trunk battery.

Do it however you want. But directly to the battery or the main post is kind of "not smart" and ugly.
It would be best if it was a switched circuit. If I tapped the low beam I would tap the hot side and add an inline fuse |

Apologize for not mentioning that I already wired up per the video attached including a cabin switch and all I need is a 12v source since I cannot connect directly to the battery. |
