are your carpets wet? or mats wet?
any windows or sunroof left open? - even a tiny bit?

Granted, I'm down south and don't deal with the weather you folks do....but.
Frost comes from frozen moisture, water, dampness or such.
I would be checking for any kind of water leakage to the inside of the car. Maybe pull up the edge of the carpets and see what's there. I'll bet you have some dampness somewhere.

I leave the drivers window open a half inch when I drive to let the moist air out when driving in this cold weather

Too bad that weather around Boston.......You are a candidate for Weathertech mats they catch it all, you can pour it out when it melts.......

Don't discount a leaking A/C pan. It's running if you use the defroster.
