Frozen Gauge Cluster

I have had my 08 SS for almost a year and yesterday as I backed out of my garage I noticed my temp was over 260 and I just started it up! Then looking across the cluster I was also going 40 mph and was a quarter tank past full!!! This is the same thing that happened to my 03 GMC 2500HD and the entire cluster had to be replaced. No big deal under warranty, but over $400 it your not so lucky. The problem is from the control board in the cluster and cheap stepper motors which control the gauges go bad. I turned the ignition on and off about 15 times until the gauges reset back to zero and today it seems fine, it's a bad thing to see, especially since I have been down this road with my truck. Has anybody else had the gauges stick??
