Fuel Cap

Can someone give me some pointers on the correct sequence of events upon replacing the fuel cap after aquiring fuel. I've only put fuel in 3 times and each time I struggle with replacing the fuel cap. Is it me or is the fuel cap faulty?

Mine has always twisted on with ease. Make sure it is lined up correctly.
