Fuel gauge issue

Filled my '07 LS up last week, and suddenly the fuel gauge does not work, and the low fuel warning shows on the DIC, and the CEL is lit up. Gauge was working fine right before the fill up.
Car runs fine, driven about 300 miles since the issue arose and nothing else is unusual.
What do I need to do?
Thanks

Find out what code the CEL has stored, and take it from there. If you do not have a code reader, Autozone or one of the other auto parts stores may read and clear it for free.

Generally Autozone will read it free, but they don't like to clear it. A code reader is a good invetment to avoid the hassle.

first thing that comes to mind is the fuel gauge sender has failed. but check fuses and wirring before you go and replace it.

True. Unless you can sweet-talk them LOl

But the CEL is easily cleared by disconnecting the battery for a few seconds anyways. For safety sake, disconnect the ground (-), as you don't want to short your wrench to ground when disconnecting the positive side.

That's right, guys.
But if the fuses and other electronics in the order, the problem is a float Inside fuel pump.
Some of you will remember my winter adventure. While the water froze in my fuel lines and blocked the movement of fuel. I had the same beginning - an arrow stand as dick, then dropped to zero. Up - down, Up - down, and then my car fails to start at all.
I hope that it fuses. Because it's summer and I am afraid to think about the matter, which can float in your gas tank.

Just wondering..... When you did this fill-up, did you top it off?

Filled from very close to empty at my usual no name gas station.
Will check fuses tomorrow, and run by autozone for the code check. They checked and cleared it for me when my thermostat went bad, so there should be no problems there.

Dear Me and my monkee,

I have read your post about your situation with your HHR. Did you get a chance to work on your vehicle yesterday? If you did, I am curious as to what information that you have found about this.
