Full engine replacement

Haven't been here in a while. Just got my car back today, after being without since the day after Christmas. Was driving to work, white smoke coming from under the hood, temp shoots up, and car starts running funny. Pull over, coolant everywhere, car won't restart. It's technically a holiday, so no one is open. Local garage takes it in, but defers me to the dealership, since my 100k powertrain warranty is still intact. The dealership says they wouldn't EVEN LOOK at the car until about today. Luckily, another dealership, 30 mins from work and like 1 hour 15 mins from home would take it right away.

Long story short, blown head gasket, missing parts in cylinder head around cylinders 3 and 4, severe scoring in cylinders 3 and 4, plus everything else that blew up due to the engine failure.

Finally got it back today, with a brand new engine...all covered under the powertrain warranty...thank god, because my bumper to bumper was up 15k miles ago.

Do any of the expert know how this affects the remainder of my powertrain warranty??

The remainder of your warranty should still be fully intact. This includes the motor itself too. The motor itself may have a specific warranty time if one were to go out and buy one by itself but I do not think it would get you to the 100k mark. Now if you were at 95k then the motor's warranty would probably cover you till you hit it's milage limits.

roofer1976,

You are still covered under the rest of your powertrain warranty.

On the engine only, there would be warranty until 107,000 or 12 months from the install date, whichever occurred first.

Cool that is what I thought I remembered from my days with GM.
