Hello All,
I have an '06 HHR with the 2.4L. The car has roughly 111K on the clock. I've replaced the stabilizer bushing a few miles back. Other than that oil changes every 4K miles and new air filters every 10-15K. I'm getting ready to put a new serpentine belt on.
My question is. What other types of maintenance can I do to help this car run for a much longer time.
Also, what are some of the people who have higher miles?
How long have these 2.4L ran for?
I might be flushing the radiator before snow flies.
TIA for any help!
Jeff

New spark plugs, due at 100,000 miles, only use AC Delco Iridium plugs...the Ecotec engines were designed around them.
Transmission fluid and filter, due at 100,000 miles.
Coolant change was due at five years, use only the recommended Dex-Cool.
Check or just replace the serpentine belt tensioner, the springs in them fatigue over time.
Some folks are also doing the timing chain tensioner.
These engines, should run at least 200,000 miles, some folks are way past that.

Hey I think the upgraded chain tensioner would be in order, somebody just bought a new motor because it failed.
Mr. Moderator where would I find the critter for the 09 SS. I heard it was easy to change ??

Are you two playing musical moderators? I guess Mike sat in the moderatrs chair this round lol.
Sorry OP nothing to add to this thread. I have only 74k and at this rate it will be 4 years before I eclipse 100k.

The GM Part Number is 12608580, list price is $53.44, but you'll be able to find it cheaper Sam.
That part number fits the 2008 & 2010 SS's also. And here's prod's execellent "How To" thread....

It took me an hour to do on my '06 LS, you should also change the oil, these gadgets work on oil pressure, so why give 'em dirty oil to start with.
