Had a CEL pop on this morning on the way to work.

PO420. So I'm looking for assistance. I know the code is for the cat reading below threshhold. I'm at 90,700 miles. Will have 8 years of ownership this Sept, the emission warrany is 8/80. Any chance I might get a goodwill warranty repair? Probably not. It's running fine, no unusual sounds. A quick ebay search popped this up.

Suggestions?

Rockauto does have good prices. I'm guessing it these all fit the manual. SOme state auto, but none state manual.

Noticed that too. I was looking at the Walker Exhaust website and they show the same one for both 2.2 & 2.4, with auto only as well. You must have a rare HHR!

Same for Maremont's website too.

AC Delco website doesn't show any.

Not as many manuals out there. But some show auto only, the other don't specify either.

Anyone know how easy this is to drop out? Wondering if a set of ramps will be enough clearance.

might just be the rear O2 sensor, or broken wire on it. that will throw the PO420 also.

I was reading more on what can cause this code and read that also. I don't have any unusual sounds or smells so I might start there first. 90K miles they are getting due. Replacing both of them is cheaper than an hour of diagnostics to determine something more.

Can anyone tell me if the cat for the auto and the manual are the same? I can't find anything that lists a manual one.

solman98 04-17-2013 05:28 AM

No one knows if the auto and manual have the same cat?

I would call a GM dealer and check with a parts guy and see what they say about any difference between the two. If you decide to install yourself, measure your cat first to compare with a new one you find.
