Heat and air doesn't work unless I hit a bump
Hello,
I have been having some problems with my heat and a/c. It seems as though the fan doesn't want to work unless I hit a large bump in the road or if I hit the dash with my fist. The heat and air does get to temp and will flow through when going at highway speeds, but the fan isn't actually working. Then, if I manage to get it to work by hitting a bump or hitting it with my hand, it will work until I turn the car off and that's it. I'm taking it to get looked at soon, but I was hoping someone on here would have some suggestions about what to ask and what to look for when having it inspected . Thanks! |
Welcome to the site, if vibration or impact gets it working, I’m thinking loose wiring, could you elaborate where you smack the HHR to get the fan to work?
The HAVC control panel? The dash board face by the fan? |

Way up on top? Could be loose connection to the relay, or the control panel is toast.

Not necessarily way up top. Just on top of the dash above the emergency signal button.

No relay for the fan. Must be a wire or the fan.

Relay #30 in the interior fuse box

I've not had a problem with my HHR except a battery, but my old '80's cars did that when the fans wore out at about 130,000 miles.
