HELP Dash Going Crazy :(

Ran to the post office tonight after work... dash started going crazy... help!

First I noticed the Fuel Range # start flickering from numbers to dashes, back and forth... RPM needle started bobbing... gas gauge started bobbing and Low Fuel flashing back and forth with the Fuel Range #... Then the little Car logo with the lock on the LH side came on....

Fuel pump? ECM? Anyone seen this before?

(ignore the Brake/Traction lights, I literally just got a new module for that this week!)

Has the under hood fuse box been messed with? Have tried tightening the 4 bolts in it gorilla tight?
Could be the harness connector to the instrument panel.
What made you get a new EBCM?

I would guess something is messing with the CAN bus. It's the kind of thing that happens when you plug in a Scanner with the CAN polarity reversed. If you install a security bypass cable on your RAM Cummins so you can flash it but you reverse the wires you see something like that. Same if you disconnect or short one of the CAN bus wires.

I don't have a scanner, hitching a ride with a buddy to work today, going to try to get it towed to one of our shops... wasn't planning on spending the money right now (and can't really afford it), but what else is there to do

I've been putting off the oil leak and timing chain job, might as well just bite the bullet and let them do it all

No, no one has touched the fuse box... last thing I had done with a purge solenoid and a starter a few months back, but they'd have no reason to touch the fuse box

I've been driving with brake/traction lights for a couple years now, I had the codes pulled back then, and we tried to reflash the module, but it didn't work, the module was on backorder for forever, but my buddy (who's a GM parts manager) tracked one down for me

Voltage and/or ground problem. 1st place I would check would be the main power lug at the under hood fuse block. Since you had a starter replaced, maybe they disconnected the power wire there. Didn’t get tightened back up correctly ?

And tighten those four 7 mm blots in the under hood fuse box, they tend to shake loose

And 9 times out of 10 the cams are out of sync with the crankshaft because of a stretched timing chain or broken front guide. A couple of members were lead down that garden path only to be told that their engine expired after the mechanic took it out for a test drive. The sensors were doing their job , the mechanic wasn’t!

there’s that. Or, a battery with one sulfate-shorted cell will charge, but not hold it and will self-discharge to about 10.5V. Yet it might prolly handily the pass a load test at the parts store. Still causes you the same problems.

Might set U codes. Might not show up on a cheapie code reader, idk.

mechanic pulled a code for the fuse block, I told him they're known to vibrate loose with age, but he swears everything was tight...
ordered a used one off ebay (discontinued from GM )... now to wait for holiday delivery
