As long as that's not rust around it it should be OK. If it is rust then yes treat it.

When I had my engine replaced the mechanic boogered up my wooly worm a lot. I took some Elmer's glue and some time and put it back together.
That was around 50,000 miles ago and it is still in good shape.

Also,, i didnt include this as i didnt think much of it, but when we were reading the codes the P0013 and P0014 codes were listed more than once.
Have you checked the resistance of the VVT Solenoid? It should be 8-12 ohms. If out of spec it needs to be replaced.
Re the MAP sensor code p0107 - here is the procedure for replacing it - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...acement-49757/

If the codes were present more than once it is important to know which types they are; current, stored or permanent.
If they are stored or permanent a battery disconnect will clear them. If the light comes right back on that means it is not a transient problem.
If you have to replace the parts at least they are shade tree jobs, figure about $210 in parts. It is odd that a VVT valve and the MAP sensor would break all at the same time.
And here is how to test the MAP sensor. https://www.obd-codes.com/p0107
