That was a thought, but there was no contact made (that I could see) on the RR. No scuffs, scratches, anything. Hub could be shot either way...it does have almost 115k. Thanks for the input

It does it when the car is in neutral at speed still. Heading to the shop tomorrow instead of Saturday.

Another possibilities:

- Engine mount. Changing from N to D, there´s a shaking?
- Transmission bearing. Ussually happen at certain speed, almost always the same?

Yeah, good thought on the engine mounts, also a failing clutch plate or throwout bearing can induce some vibrations. You'll track it down Smooth, just have patience and be methodical.

Rob on my old silverado, it drove me nuts feeling vibrations in my steering column. Thought it was a bad tire. Switched tires, still there. What it ended up being was a bent rim. Ice in winter, went sideways, and up a curb, also taking out a mailbox. I would have the rims checked for round'ness.

That's my biggest fear, especially since I just put new tires on them.

I propose you a quick experiment, and this would rid you this possibilty. Switch the front wheels with the rear. If you feel the same, definitively aren´t wheel or rims. Once my wife hit a curb, and this lead to have a vibration like yours. I just switched the wheels, and voila! problem solved. In the other way, I understand you perfectly about waste time & money. I´ve struggling with the same kind of issues (Vibrations) with my HHR, my wife´s car and my previous car (1998 Mercury Sable). In this in particular, I felt like the car was bouncing at Highway speeds and vibrating too. For this, was the Lower ball Joint and an Engine mount.

He's got a point. While switching them may work, you may still feel it.. my best idea is take the wheels off (yourself) and inspect them front and back for ANY out of round-ness.

Did they find anything yet? Since it went away for a while when the tires`were replaced, it sounds like they have something to do with it. There is a powder we use in large truck tires to balance them. It balances the tire as it rolls.
