Unhappy HELP! Vapor lock/Air in fuel line??

Ok, so all of a sudden my car will not start. Its making the sick sound trying to start it, so my first thought is it's my battery. So I call AAA so they can come start me up so I can go get a new battery. He tested it and he says its a good battery but just needs a bit of a charge. He goes to try and start it over an over and finally it starts and he starts reving it up real loud and then a big cloud of white smoke comes out of my car. He said he's no mechanic but he mentions vapor lock or air in the fuel line....So....what?! What could that be all about??! By the way, I know nothing about vehicles. But its been starting fine since the incident this morning. This also brings me to another problem I seem to encounter with my HHR every once in a blue moon...when I go to start it, everything will turn on but the engine. It takes like 4 tries to get it started, but everything is lite up in the car. And I know the clutch is down all the way and Im not doing anything wrong. Anyone have any answers??

Sounds like the fuel pump isn't keeping pressure in the lines when the car is off. Try turning the key to accessory for a few seconds before starting and see if it helps. Also check to make sure there are no fuel leaks.

Checking for fuel leaks is something I can actually do or do I need to take it in somewhere? Sounds expensive.

For starters, just let the car idle and see if you see anything dripping onto the ground. Does it run bad after it finally starts? Or normal?

Usually air in a fuel line won't bother a gas engine. If you have a lack of pressure, that might cause an issue.

Buy a can of seafoam. Go fill your car up with premium and add the seafoam into the gas
