HHR lights Flash and horn beeps without reason

My wife accidently put my 2009 HHR factory electronic key chain in the washing machine with the laundry two days ago. Seemed to worked fine afterwards. Today my vehicle's lights started flashing and the horn started beeping without cause. It has done this twice now in a 12 hour period. Is this issue related to the key chain and has had anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like the panic button on the key fob is operating.

A soft bristle toothbrush comes in handy in a case like this to clean around the contacts of the smt components on the board.

I advise that you take your key fob battery out and see if that causes the issue to stop. Once you put it back in and if it continues send me a private message with your name, number, address, vehicle identification number, and current mileage. This will allow me to see what steps we need to take to fix this issue.

BE VERY careful when removing the battery. Take the circuit board out of the silicone pad and gently push the battery out/in. DO NOT apply ANY upward pressure to the battery cage, or you will need the "cold solder" thread to repair the fob.

This happened to me when the battery clip started coming loose from the main board. Once I had the clip resoldered to the board, problem went away.

I'm having this same problem. If you haven't been close enough to the car to listen to it while it's doing it, the door locks are cycling open and closed...like you're continuously hitting the lock button. Done it about 4 different times now. Tried to clean the fobs but continues to do it. Checked all of the fuses and nothing out of line. So yeah, it's a problem that my car is randomly unlocking itself in the driveway.

It actually cycled the locks up and down while driving a couple of weeks ago. I'm thinking it might be a bad door switch? ANY help would be appreciated!!!!!!

What was the repairs you've done? It sounds like the carbon contacts are too close to the contacts on the circuit board, generating false pushes.
