Ignition switch problem?

For the past few years, whenever I hit a large bump or pothole, my engine shuts off. I have to shift to neutral and turn the key to start the engine again. I noticed it also shuts off when I unlock the tilt wheel and bang the steering column up or down. I don't think it is the keys, since the engine doesn't shut off when I wiggle them. I bought a new ignition switch (the electrical part, not the key tumbler). It looks simple to replace, but I was wondering if anybody here has changed theirs yet.

Well, I just changed it and it went well. The 2 torq screws holding the switch in place did not have enough room to get at them with a regular handle, so luckily I had a small ratchet handle that came with a kit for working on guns, and the hex hole fit the bits I had.

its possible you could have a broken ignition wire or a pin coming out of the back of the ignition harness especially if when you tilt your wheel you are having this problem

I did a visual check and all wires seemed fine. So far, no stall.

the wire will break inside the protective casing...you have to test continuity while moving the wires around or tilting the wheel

I tried that when the cover was off, and it did not shut the engine off. I notice that when I turn the ignition key, it is much firmer with the new switch. And so far, no shut off over bumps...I hope I did not just jinx myself.
