Key Fob problem

My key fob will not unlock the doors, it will lock after you drive the car, but have use the key to unlock which then sets off the alarm, that will only deactivate after I start the car. I thought at first that the battery was going dead but then why would it lock it after running then not unlock after 5 mins of it sitting there? Also this just started today after the service tpms on the DIC came on. Could these two things be related? I wouldnt think so but what do I know. Ill be reseting the tpms tonight or tomorrow so I guess I'll find out either way. Any one know of any thing like this?

I have already fixed 2 remotes for different GM cars that were like this.

You can always use the power lock button to lock the doors when you exit the vehicle. That way you can use the key to unlock the vehicle and the alarm won't sound when the door is opened.

ok so I got the tpms reset, which was really easy, and now the key fob works just fine no problems any more. Not sure why those would be related but we'll see how things go in a few days.

Key fobs and TPMS both use the same module to receive their RF signal.

You may want to check your theory, I woke a motel getting into a rental HHR with that method.

Now if you lock the driver door with the key and unlock it with the key it would be correct.

The theory is a fact - my key fobs stopped working some time ago and I use the rocker switch on the driver's door to lock the doors when I exit the vehicle. When I re-enter the vehicle using the key, there is no audible warning.

One of these days I am going to have the key fob issue looked at by the dealer.

2007 and newer HHRs, don't arm the alarm when using the electric door switch. That's why it doesn't go off.
