Well, just for a data point;

I used to swear that fob problems were always related to the contacts or the battery cage.

But my "new" 2011 just would not reliably lock or unlock with the fob. Replaced battery, replaced the entire pad, re soldered the battery cage. Got a new fob on the E Bay for $15 had it programmed to the car it works fine, the old one still does not work reliably.

My lesson is: sometimes the fob just goes bad!
