Keyfobs
Both keyfobs on my (wife's) car have stopped working. I replaced the batteries but still nothing. Is it possible they somehow got out of sync with the car? Or....?

08? Still under warranty??

check the solder joints on the clip that holds the battery. I had to repair alot of these. its an ez repair just do a search on key fob repair it will pull up a how-to for you.

If they both stopped working at the same time, you likely will need the dealer to reprogram them to the car. If they stopped working one at a time, the problem is likely due to either broken battery bracket contacts, or worn out "carbon" contacts inside, that contact the circuit board.
Here is the link to the solder job to fix the battery bracket - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...ht=cold+solder and here is the link to a fix for the "carbon" contact issue: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/repair-key-fob-remotes-worn-out-contacts-30813/ Hope that helps. |
Thanks. Both stopped working at the same time. Almost due for service anyway so....back to the dealership.

Had to replace one of mine...faulty. Feel like they are made of cardboard, probably part of the problem

The 2008s have a problem with the Remote receiver loosing programming; it might be bad since both transmitters stopped working at the same time. Is anything else not working? Like the TPMS. If so, it probably is the receiver located above the headliner needs reprogramming.

After reading how apparently fragile these fobs are, when I found mine in the washing machine, after it had been through a complete wash, rinse and spin cycle, I figured it was toast. So far it has been and continues to work just fine, which was quite surprising to me. Today is day three, and still working. It is clean, though!
