From what I understand, the knock sensor is actually a sound detector (like a microphone) that picks up differences in the noise level (engine knock) under the hood, then advances/retards the timing. In most cars it just bolts onto a bracket attached to the engine block, usually looks like a small black block of carbon with a couple of wires attached.

 

i looked at the pics and diagrams, its just a bolt with sensor on it... as soon as the CEL pops again ill get the code.. right now only having one car dont really want the tick noise to be something serious.

 

ok it came on again, this time he wrote the code down for me. Knock Sensor bank 1 B0325 and Knock Sensor bank 1 50327

 

I am guessing that you mean P0325 and P0327.

Here is an easy way to get info about OBDII codes: www.obd-codes.com/(your code here). Or just type the code into google.

Both of these codes if they are what I'm guessing at say to check all your wiring from the sensor, your ECM may be bad, the sensor may be bad. You need to find out what the factory resistance is supposed to be then check your sensor.

I believe that all of this info is in your Service Manual.

 

he wrote down B not P, but yeah as i was searching all the codes came up with P, most of what i found just said to replace it.

 

Hi folks - new member here. I have a 2006 HHR LT 2.4
For past 2-3 months trying to solve CEL code P0327.
Has anyone replaced the Knock Sensor and that actually resolved the problem?
