Knocking

I have a 2009 LT. Lately I have noticed a shake in the front at highway speed and when I turn the steering wheel at low speeds or when parked I hear knocking. I am wondering if it could be the steering rack or ball joints. How do I find out what it might be? If it is the steering rack is it safe to drive or not?

It could be lower control arm rear bushings also
to test the steering rack watch the steering shaft to see if it moves the tires when you assistant moves the steering wheel from 11 to 1 o’clock slowly look down from under the hood .
to test the lca rear bushing watch for excessive movement when you push the car forward and let it roll back .

The steering shaft did move the tires when the steering wheel was turned from 11 to 1 o'clock. The steering wheel is tight with no play. I also pushed the car forward to test the bushings. I am not sure if the movement was excessive. I made a video of the test that is at the link below. .
Thanks.
