Question GM Recall/Anyone Know?

I was doing some research online, and was wondering if anyone knows anything, about this possible recall? I found two different webpages (one on cars.com) regarding it, posted both below. I think I had put in a search for our 2006 LS, not sure ~ since we DID buy ours USED (and certified?!) from a dealership, in August of 2009, would this have been taken care of by that time? Thanks in advance for any help/info!!
========
GM is recalling more than 180,000 Chevy HHRs due to poor crash-test ratings — an unusual cause. The company is going to insert energy-absorbent materials into the headliner of all models not equipped with roof-mounted airbags.

Model year 2006-08 HHRs are included in the recall. It’s extremely rare for a car company to fail a standard federal safety test, and we’re surprised it took so long for the recall to take place, since it involves a 3-year-old model. For more information, contact Chevrolet at 800-630-2438.
===========
General Motors has announced the recall of 181,516 units of the HHR model due to a head injury risk. The problem occurs only with vehicles not equipped with the optional head curtain side air bags.

The concerned vehicles don't meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 201, 'Occupant Protection in Interior Impact.' Only 2006-2008 model year HHRs seem to have te defect. GM will install an energy-absorbing plastic piece to the headliner trim on all affected models. The recall is expected to start next month.

Give me the last 8 of your VIN and I can tell you if your car is involved.

Is there any easy way for us to find info like this out. I know this headliner issue also is for Colbalts (like my wifes 05 sedan)? This way no one will abuse the special powers of ChevyMgr... When I went to the dealer to get my first oil change (never again-the overhead tool lines-metal coupling-chipped the paint on my hood, not once but several times. They also have some BS writen in the service papers stating that they are not responsible if they damage the vehicle) I asked them about the 09 linkage issue. The service guy said without blinking an eye or even looking at me that is was done already. He must be Hudini or something, the car didn't even enter the service bay at that point.

If I have the GM site up, which I always do, I can tell a customer in 2 seconds if there is a recall on their vehicle and if it has been completed. In 2 more seconds I can tell them who and when it was done. Only a dealer or a call to GM can get you this information. A dealer will be able to show you on their PC screen all your vehicle information.

My response would have been "when was it completed?"
