Leaking water through hood release

for months now my car has been leaking water through the hood release when it rains. I知 assuming it could be running down the cable from somewhere, but I知 not really sure where the rain is even getting on the cable. Any ideas? Thanks!

If you have a sunroof, it is probably the drain line is clogged. The search window can help you find more information about this.

Welcome
I'll guess that you have a sunroof ? If so, most likely that one of the sunroofs drain lines is leaking and it is touching somewhere around the hood release cable.
There are 4 drain lines. The 2 shown plus the same 2 on the drivers side(not shown)

No sunroof! I should have put that in my original post since the only answers I found before were related to sunroofs.

OK. No sunroof. The only suggestion I have is to get out a garden hose, run some water over the car, and see if you can find where it's leaking to the inside. I've had to do this on several other vehicles. Leaks ranged from windshield seal, to door weatherstrips, to my truck that had a crack in the cabin shell weld.(that was an odd one and took forever to figure out)
Just need to run the water in isolated areas until you find exactly WHERE it leaks. Then find WHAT is leaking.

Check the seal at the door wiring harness boot. They pop loose

The cable goes thru a grommet in the firewall, that is the only place it could come from.

View under the instrument panel. Arrow to the front of the car.

Pictures of this problem would help.
I guess the water is leaking into the interior at the hood release lever ?
The other way I take it, there is a water leak at the front by the hood latch area.
Yeah I'm missing something here.

So the door grommet is at the red X. The water leaks in there, goes down the wire harness, then crosses over to the hood release cable. It then continues down the cable till it drips off the hood release latch.

Sounds plausible.
