Wiper weirdness

I seem to be having a problem with the wipers when used on the slow speed. It acts like intermittant, pausing about 5 seconds between wipes. Works correctly on high speed & itermittant, just the middle position is screwed up. Anyone else have this? Or is there a fix?

Does it move a little, and then stop?

^^^I've had that once or twice. I just flip the knob to another speed and it goes about it's bidness. After putting it back to the previous setting, it won't do it again for what ever reason. Only seems to happen when it's cold.

I had a similar problem with my silverado ss. in slow or fast, wiper behaved fine, in intermitant, it would sometimes work as it should, other times it seemed to stutter at random swings. It drove me nuts but I never checked on it. I did notice that if the windshield was wet, it happened less frequently, if it was semi dry or dry, it almost alwasy did the stutter. Hope that info helps some. My father-in-law said it could be the motor going out but like I said, never investigated further than talking about it.

Had the same problem on a Dodge truck. Thought it was going to surely be a bad switch. -Wasn't-. Replaced the wiper motor and that fixed it.

Sounds like the wiper motor might be packing it in based on experience. They can be pretty weird when they start to go.

Just had my wiper switch replaced for wiper that would not work on some speeds at times. I was able to get it to ack up by wiggling the switch.

The biggest disappointment with wipers is that they always go bad when it's raining.

Used to have issues like that with my suburban. Turned out to be a control board on the motor. New board solved the issue. Not Sure about the HHR though. Might use the same style board.
