solman wins. It was bulbs. The Silverstars are so bright I didn't even see that one low beam must have gone out previously and I just didn't notice.
Might this be why your special bulbs might be burning out prematurely. |
Hmmm, MIGHT BE
Might be. I'm not sure. My "normal" voltage readings are between 13.9 & 14.5 and I can always see the readout whenever the vehicle is running.
But I'm not complaining after 20 months & 40,000 + miles. I was wondering if because I keep the tires @ 38 PSi and live on the roughest road in the county may contribute or the many times a day the key FOB is used to lock & unlock the doors causing the low beams to flash could be part of the problem. I know a regular light turned on and left on will last longer than one constantly turned off & on. Maybe the initial startup voltage is a shock to the filiment. Botton line... I have no clue. |
I hear ya Kevin. I keep the Silverstars adjusted a little lower than the height shown in the manual and can still see better at night.

1 Attachment(s)
Sno White, not from the HHR dash or DIC but I keep my ScanGuage connected all the time with industrial strength Velcro unless I pop it out to check codes on another vehicle.
Upper right reading in the pic below. I keep RPM, Speed, Temp & Volts displayed but there are many other readings available. Attachment 31750 |

Order the second cable, I think it was only 8 or 10 bucks. I leave one permantly in the HHR and use the spare cable for other vehicles by just popping the head off the velcro and unplugging the phone jack type connector..
Being able to read & clear codes you're gonna gain a lot of new friends.............. |
The wire is on the top of the left fender well inside the engine compartment and just in front of the fuse box. On my car it is black and the only wire going to the ground stud.
